How does it work?

Cherry Blossom
You might be looking for a change of psychotherapist or exploring counselling and psychotherapy for the first time.

So what to expect?

Initial session:  an introductory session allows us the opportunity to find out what issues have brought you to counselling and psychotherapy. We are able to use this meeting to consider if it might be possible to work together and how we might do this.  This is a free session for up to an hour.

Confidentiality:  what we talk about in your session remains confidential.

Supervision:  my work is supervised regularly by a UKCP accredited supervisor (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists).  I do not share any identifying client material with my supervisor.

Code of Ethics:  I am bound by the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the ACPP (Association of Core Process Psychotherapists) and UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice (2019).

How long is a session?  It is most beneficial to attend weekly sessions which are one hour long.

Short term or long term?  If we agree to meet again after the initial introductory session, I recommend we have 6 sessions together, at which point we would review this.  A review enables us to reflect on how you have found the process and if you would like to contract for ongoing sessions.  I offer both short term and long term psychotherapy.

Costs:  £55 per hourly session.  The initial session is free of charge.

Cancellation policy:  notification of cancelling a session within 24 hours may incur a full cancellation fee.

Where:  9 Meadowbank Terrace, Edinburgh EH8 7AR
